The Commission in a bid to promote positive attitude, social and perceptional change towards the realization of its mandate conducted a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project in six primary schools across Isiolo, Samburu and Marsabit counties.
The CSR initiative was led by the Commission Secretary/CEO Marjan Hussein Marjan, MBS and it extended support to Kiwanja Primary (Isiolo), El Molo Bay Primary, Loyiangalani Primary, Moite Primary, Laiyeni Primary (Marsabit) and Sere Olipi Primary (Samburu) schools.
The initiative was aimed at enhancing learning conditions, nurturing extracurricular talents and fostering strong connection between the Commission and local communities.
Given its reliance and utilisation of public institutions, especially primary schools, for voter registration, voter verification and polling activities, the Commission recognises the importance of maintaining strong ties with school communities. Through this project, the Commission sought to support education, promote menstrual hygiene and encourage a thriving sports culture among the pupils. Donations included sports equipment, sanitary supplies and stationery geared toward improving student welfare.
Beyond the material contributions, the CEO and IEBC team actively engaged with pupils, motivating them to excel academically and in extracurricular activities. Parents in attendance expressed deep appreciation for the Commission’s commitment to enhancing their children's well-being. They were also encouraged to participate fully in electoral activities and make informed choices when electing visionary leaders to drive community development.
The initiative was well received, with beneficiaries voicing their gratitude and requesting the Commission to continue such efforts in the future. Teams from the IEBC headquarters, in collaboration with county and constituency offices, meticulously planned and executed the project, ensuring that the support reached the most in-need schools and learners.
IEBC's CSR policy prioritizes impactful, cost-effective projects aligned with its mandate, vision, mission, and core values. By integrating social responsibility with voter education and stakeholder engagement, the Commission continues to reinforce its commitment to equity and community empowerment
Marjan was accompanied by the Director of Voter Registration and Electoral Operations Moses Sunkuli, OGW. The delegation met with IEBC County Election Managers (CEM) together with their teams to assess and strengthen key development projects.
The CEMs hosted the CEO-led delegation, providing detailed briefings on achievements, emerging opportunities and challenges in the daily administration of their offices. This engagement facilitated productive discussions on enhancing electoral processes and addressing operational needs, reinforcing the Commission’s commitment to effective governance and service delivery to stakeholder.
